Business Profile: The Releaf Group

The Releaf Group is an African management consulting firm that is focused on agriculture, technology and business. The company partners with clients from the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors in Africa to amplify their highest yield prospect, address their most critical challenges, and transform their enterprises.

The Founder/CEO of The Releaf Group, Toby Nzewi is a 17-year-old Nigerian and a Cypress Wood High School senior. He founded the Releaf Foundation after he attended a six-week summer programme at Indiana University where his instructors encouraged him and other participants to engage in public speaking opportunities. He started working on a research about his country, Nigeria, for his speech. After reading about the issue of poverty, corruption and population in Nigeria, Toby Nzewi was moved to help and that made him start his non-profit organisation, which he first named Releaf Foundation.

With noble goals in mind, he set out to provide African farmers with rice, maize and soybean seeds and encourage them to use new, high-performing technology for improved yields but he was unable to get the funding he needed. He had to put it on hold for awhile until May 2015 when he and his other team members decided to channel their interests in technology and business into a consulting service to become The Releaf Group.

In November 2015, the Group will travel to Nigeria to talk about the company at an event intended to promote the mission of TED, a global non-profit organization devoted to idea sharing. Event participants will include representatives of Nigerian startups and investors.

The Releaf Group is presently receiving applications to its first Fall 2015 Cohort. The Group’s consultants are ready to provide free strategic consulting assistance and help your company from inception to pivot to exit strategy.
