Nigeria’s traditional wrestling coach, Sunday Oppiah, has announced that Nigeria will participate at the 7th edition of the ECOWAS Wrestling Championship scheduled to hold between October, 9 and 11, 2015 in Dakar, Senegal.
Opiah said Nigeria is to be represented by five wrestlers: All Africa Games gold medalist, Soso Tamara (100kg); silver medalist, Sinivie Boltic (120kg); Arasafa Zeinweritein (66kg); Jordan Job (76kg) and Lucky Oppiah (86kg).
Oppiah said he will make Nigeria proud by returning home with the trophy.
“The wrestlers are in high spirits, as you know we have two wrestlers who just returned from the just concluded All Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville with medals and I am sure they will want to retain the tempo,” said Oppiah.
“The Senegalese are great traditional wrestlers but we will make them know that traditional wrestling was invented in Nigeria,” he concluded.
The team will leave the shores of Nigeria today, 6th October, 2015.
Best of luck to the team!
