How to Create Geotags for Instagram Pictures

Dear fans of Instagram, with all the love we have for the instant pictures and videos we get using this app, some of us are lost as to recalling the places where we captured exciting moments. Say for instance you return to Nigeria from a trip to Ghana and you want to share the pictures on your wall. At best, you succeed in posting the pictures without using geotags.

First of all, for those who want to add geotags to make their posts original and unique, make sure that the ‘Location Service’ is turned on for every camera app you use, including Instagram. But if you are determined to geotag pictures taken somewhere else and not the place where you are uploading the photo from, and if the image file does not contain that specific info, this piece could be of immense help.

Step 1:
Login to your Instagram app and use the file picker to select the photo or video to which you want to add a location.

Step 2:
Once you are on the photo page, click the option icon (with three dots) at the bottom-right corner and select the ‘Edit’ option from the list of menus presented.

Step 3:
Edit the picture or video caption and location. If per chance the photo does not include location info, look for an ‘Add Location’ link at the top left corner, just under your username and next to your avatar. Tap on the link to edit the location.

Step 4:
From the suggested list that pops up, pick a suitable location. If you do not see the location you want, search for it, and when you find the location, tap on it. This step is the key to adding the location to your photo.

Step 5:
On completing Step 4, you should see your newly added location shown in the photo. To ensure it the amendment is saved, confirm the change by clicking the ‘Done’ button.
