Business Profile: Rack Centre- West Africa’s Top Tier III Data Centre

Rack Centre is a world-class Tier III design data centre in West Africa, bringing colocation and data hosting services to a whole new level.

In 2016, the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) emphasized the importance of routing data traffic locally through the Internet Exchange Point of Nigeria (IXPN), stating that the country saves ₦2 billion as a result of this. Rack Centre is on a mission to see that as much data transactions as possible are domiciled in Nigeria. It is the only Tier III design-certified data centre hosting the IXPN. This improves accessibility for local internet service providers (ISPs) and telecom carriers, enabling them to switch data at a faster speed.

Rack Centre is the most connected in West Africa, having connectivity to all undersea cables (ACE, GLO1, MainOne, SAT3 and WACS) serving the South Atlantic Coast of Africa to Europe. It is also the primary host of Regional West African Internet Exchange Point (RIXP), directly connecting by fibre all countries on the South Atlantic coast of West Africa.

Renowned for excellence, Rack Centre in 2014 became the first Tier III Design Certified data centre in West Africa. In 2015, it was the first company in Africa to receive the Data Centre Dynamics Award for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region in the Data Centre Impact Award Category. In 2016, it became the first West African data centre provider to achieve a Tier III Design Recertification.

Security is premium at the Rack Centre. The facility is located in Lagos, on a 22,000 sqm (240,000 sqft) site and securely at 30 meters above sea level, with ten layers of physical security combined with both card and biometric access control devices. CCTV monitors keep the entire facility under a 24/7/365 surveillance.

Clients can entrust data support and design services in the specialist hands of Rack Centre. In addition to connectivity, colocation services, and hosting the IXPN, Rack Centre offers cloud services via its Cloud on Ground™, described as West Africa’s marketplace for a wide range of cloud services.
