In a world where there’s a lot of focus on the negatives rather than the positives, it is expected that people would jump on any train of hope in the news. This is perhaps why it was so easy for a hacker, it seems, to sway multitude of Nigerians with the news of Funke Akindele featuring in the 2018 Avengers movie, Avengers: The Infinity War.
It should be recalled that she has been a brunt of a joke, celebration, wonder even, where Nigerians had questioned if she really was on the Avengers cast when a poster was created with the actress dressed as one of the Avengers in the mock version of the Avengers play in 2013. With the news of her participation in the movie, the actress became a Twitter trend and a reason for thousands of memes across the nation.
The news took a different turn when on the 13th January, her name which was listed on IMDb website as a cast in the movie was removed, a move that has been rumoured to be a hacker’s doing, although the reason for the removal remains officially unknown.
Now replacing Funke Akindele for the Dora Milaje role is Genevieve Nnaji. As at Wednesday, the actress, Funke Akindele, did not acknowledge the report as no role pass was made to her. As of now, no mention of her name on the Marvel website, or the producers of the Avengers. Right now, both actresses have not responded to any of the claims.
Avengers: Infinity War is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics superhero team the Avengers.
