Five Natural Ways to Get Rid of Pimples

Pimples are a normal skin condition which affects many people. They are an inflammation of the skin in which the sebaceous glands (oil glands) become infected with bacteria, swell up, and fill with pus. Pimples generally occur on the face, neck, back and shoulders and though it is not a critical condition, it can affect a person’s self-esteem due to the feeling he/she may have about his/her appearance. There are various ways and methods to get rid of pimples. Some are natural while others are toxic. The natural methods are much safer as they are not dangerous for the skin. Below are five natural methods of getting rid of pimples within a very short period.

Lemon Juice: The natural astringent and antibacterial properties of lemon juice are great for clearing up the skin. Lemon juice contains vitamin C which can help kill the bacteria or microscopic organisms and reduce the redness caused by pimples. In addition, the acid in lemon can help constrict the skin tissues and push the overabundant oil out of your skin. Take one lemon and squeeze it into a bowl. Dip a clean cotton swab in the juice and apply it to the pimples before going to bed. In the morning, wash your face with lukewarm water.

Baking Soda: The benefits of baking soda are many. It exfoliates as well as reduces inflammation and it clears up the skin. Asides from the fact that baking soda is cheap and easily accessible, it is also a great option for clearing up blemishes as it is a good option for all skin types because it doesn’t cause any kind of skin irritation. Make a thick paste by mixing one teaspoon of baking soda with some lukewarm water or lemon juice. Apply the paste on the affected areas and allow it to dry for a few minutes. Wash your face with warm water after about one hour.

Honey: This is the best thing for pimples. It kills skin bacteria, fights inflammation and is antiseptic. It’s anti-inflammatory qualities reduce the redness, swelling and infections of the skin. In addition, honey is a natural humectant that helps preserve moisture in your skin so you can get rid of the peeling and dryness naturally. Dab raw honey on the affected area and leash to stay for a few minutes then wash it off.

Steam: Steaming is wonderful for your skin at any time, but particularly when you have pimples. The steam will open your pores and allow your skin to breathe. This helps get rid of oils, dirt and bacteria trapped in the pores that can cause infection or inflammation.

Cucumber: Cucumber is rich in potassium, calcium; magnesium and phosphorus which help remove dead skin cells, dirt and bacteria. It also contains vitamins A, C and E which can help reduce skin inflammation. The antioxidant properties of cucumber can help cool and reduce the redness of the skin. Also, it keeps the skin hydrated as water makes up for 90% of cucumber content.
