Moses In Action As Chelsea Draw Barcelona In UEFA Champions League Game

Nigerian International and Chelsea midfielder, Victor Moses was in full-on action for the Blues as they took on La Liga Champions, Barcelona in the first-leg of the round of 16 in the 2017/2018 UEFA Champions League season at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.

The Blues, who proved more formidable than their fans expected, forced Barcelona to a 1-1 draw as they played an effective defensive game.

Barcelona fans, as well as Chelsea fans, had predicted this game going south for the Blues but they seemed to have held more than their own as William opened the scoring for the Blues putting Chelsea in the lead before Messi evened the playing field.

Chelsea started the game on a good note, having the first real chance with the first five minutes of the game as Hazard made a left-foot strike that went wide off target.

Barcelona, who dominated the playing field with 70 percent possession seems to have arrived late to the party as their many chances within the first theory minutes of the game were without a good finish.

William would then probe Barcelona’s ’18 with impressive shots but came just within an inch of goal each time. Hazard immediately followed suite probing Barca’s end of the pitch, but his goal had no more luck than William’s previous shots.

In the 54th minute, Luis Suarez had his first chance at goal but Curtois made a quick save.

In the 62nd minute, a teamup of Hazard and William saw Chelsea take the lead as William put the blues in the lead. 13 minutes later, a flop by Chelsea’s defensive backline gave Messi just the chance he needed to equalize as he struck past Curtois from an Iniesta assist.

Victor Moses pushed his luck with a long range shot with five minutes to go but his effort went wide off target ending the game 1-1.

The return leg is scheduled for the 31st of March at Camp Nou.
