Exfoliate Your Lips With These Homemade Recipes

How often do you use lip scrub? Just as exfoliating the skin is important, exfoliating the lips is also important.

Chapped and dry lip are quite common and can often cause embarrassment.

The best lip balm or lipstick can’t hide chapped, dry lips. Applying lipstick over chapped lips causes the lipstick to fuzz and settle between the lines on the lips.

It’s not enough to moisturize your lips with Vaseline. Exfoliating the lips ensures the lips remain naturally soft and shiny. Exfoliating also removes dead skin cells.

Your lips need to be exfoliated at least twice a week to keep them supple and healthy, especially during dry weather and Harmattan.

These simple homemade recipes can be prepared within minutes and used to restore your lips to health.

Note that the best time to exfoliate your lips is at night before bedtime.

Brown sugar and honey scrub

brown sugar

Sugar exfoliates effectively. It works perfectly when combined with other natural substance that can hold particles together, like honey. Honey, besides its healing and hydrating property, will moisten and soothe the lips.

What you will need:

½ teaspoon brown sugar

½ teaspoon honey

What to do:

Mix ingredients together in a bowl to form a sticky paste.

Apply the paste with your toothbrush.

Scrub your lips for about 2-3 minutes.

You can apply with your fingers as well.

Coconut oil and sugar scrub

Coconut oil is another famous natural moisturizer. You can rub coconut oil on your lips to keep them moisturized. But to get the full effect of this substance, prepare a mixture of coconut oil and sugar.

What you will need:

1 teaspoon coconut oil

1 teaspoon of granulated brown or white sugar

What to do:

Mix ingredients together in a bowl to form a sticky paste.

Apply using your fingertips and rub thoroughly, but gently, on your lips.

Leave for 30 seconds or a minute.

Rinse your lips with warm water.

Apply lip balm to keep your lips moisturized.
