Ikorodu Street Kids Get Shout-Out From Naomi Campbell, Rihanna, P. Diddy

Kids from Ikorodu got a shout-out from supermodel, Naomi Campbell, who on Saturday re-grammed their dance video on Instagram.

The children belong to the Dream Catchers Dance Academy, which was founded and run by Seyi Oluyole, a writer, choreographer and fitness trainer.

From Oyinbo to Ikorodu

When Seyi was 14 years old, she began a dance group in Oyingbo, Lagos, with some of the underprivileged children in her neighbourhood. Most of the children did not take school seriously at the time and Seyi saw their interest in dance as an opportunity; she told the kids that they could only remain on the dance crew if they stayed in school.

Since then, Seyi has used dance as a tool to rehabilitate street kids. Ten kids are currently living with her and she is responsible for their feeding, school fees and upkeep; a few of the children have sponsors. Seyi is only 25 years old.

Since Naomi re-grammed the group’s dance video (see below) on Saturday, Rihanna and P. Diddy have also re-grammed videos from the group.

Well done, Dream Catchers!
