The sixth edition of the Nigerian Entertainment Conference will be held in Lagos on Wednesday, April 25th, 2018.
This year’s edition is tagged Understanding Emerging Market Trends and Opportunities, and will focus on how the Nigerian creative industry can understand and benefit from opportunities available in emerging market segments, and how to become more impactful locally and globally through the use of contemporary technology.
A publication on its website states:
“Nigeria is still focused on solving old problems, while the rest of the world has moved on to using new thinking and ideas to create new ways of getting value. Netflix, Amazon, Tidal, Deezer, Spotify, and many more are coming forth to innovate creation, distribution and monetisation, while the concept of venues and tours is taking a wholly different shape from Europe to Asia and America.
“The music business is transforming from predominantly records sales and concert and tours to a 360 model that’s giving new life to a hitherto dying industry. Hollywood is seeing some excitement, with the boost in streaming services and the influence of two key things: technology, and surge in measurable consumption from the EMEA. It’s the same across Fashion, comedy, Sports, and media. Demographics are changing, Silicon Valley is building, and M&As are leading to a new order.”
This conference is coming at the right time, especially with the recent advancement in the music and film industry as well as media generally. It comes with the hope that the discussions from the event will help major industry players harness technology towards transforming the Nigerian entertainment and creative industries and bring it at par with what is available in more Europe and America.
Speakers at the one-day event to be hosted by Tee A, are co-founder and CEO of IrokoTV, Jason Njoku, and serial entrepreneur and founder of Flutterwave (a technology and infrastructure solutions provider for digital payments, currently operating in over 30 countries in Africa), Iyin Aboyeji. Aboyeji also featured on Forbes “30 Under 30” list. Also speaking is Martin Mabutho (manager of sales and marketing at Multichoice Nigeria), D’Banj, multiple award-winning Afro-pop singer and entrepreneur, Daddy Freeze (Ifedayo Olarinde), on-air personality, and Juju music sensation, Sir Shina Peters.
