Nigerian gospel singer, Chika Nwaogu, known as Saint Chika, is attempting to create a new world record for ‘longest officially released song’.
The contemporary gospel artist, on Saturday 7th April, recorded his debut single, a three-hour song titled Power In The Name Of The Lord.
Guinness World Records
The song has been submitted to music stores including Spotify and iTunes for processing and upload, after which he will make his official entries to the Guinness World Records. The submissions required by the organization that publishes a catalogue of world records, both of human achievements and the extremes of the natural world, include photo and video evidence of the achievement, as well as scanned signed witness statements from people without affiliation to the artiste who were present at the production of the song.
As soon as the documents are filed, Saint Chika is on his way to becoming the world record holder, with his three hours, thirty minutes and fifty seconds long song. The current holder of the Guinness World Record for ‘longest officially released song’ is PC III label Pipe Choir (USA) — Saint Chika’s song exceeds theirs by twenty-nine minutes.
Saint Chika is a contemporary singer, songwriter and recording artiste. He is also the founder of Amen Records. He has one album and several singles which include Higher, Testimonies, Paid It All, My Mrs Me, among others. Before venturing into gospel music, Chika made a living from computer programming.
