Top 5 Influential Tech Blogs in Nigeria

Technological advancement remains the most superb stepping stone for mankind in the 21st century.

Tech grew dramatically in the 19th century, exposing the world to the most remarkable innovations it had ever seen. By the 20th century, the foundation had already been laid for more growth and consequently, the greatest tech advancements that have ever been recorded in history occurred. Despite the remarkable pace in which the world has evolved invention-wise, Africa still faces some challenges in measuring up. Technology startups in Nigeria, however, are addressing these set-backs by providing software solutions and propagating ideas that will be beneficial to the tech market. One of the ways through which they achieve this is through blogging. Nigerian tech blogs have raised the standard by sharing insights on tech development and influencing technological renaissance.

These are the top five tech blogs in Nigeria:

Tech Cabal

The tech cabal blog started as a platform for young technology enthusiasts to share insights and developments in the world of technology.  Tech Cabal was established by Bankole Oluwafemi – a lawyer-turned-tech enthusiast – in 2013. His primal goal is to encourage conversations surrounding technology, mobile and internet in Africa. Tech Cabal stands at first place on the ranking list of top blog in Nigeria. The blog covers subjects on tech news, reviews, information technology and much more.

Naija Tech Guide

Naijatechguide.com was founded in 2006 by Paschal Okafor, a considered genius in Nigeria’s “technosphere” and pioneer of tech blogging in the country. He emerged as the first konga affiliate to make a Million Naira from the affiliate commissions. On naijatechguide.com, articles on reviews, specs, and prices of gadgets are documented.

Miss Techy

If there is any woman that has broken the barrier for women in the tech industry, it is the young tech-savvy Tobi Ayeni. She is a graduate of Covenant University where she studied Banking and Finance. With no formal technical training, she went on to become the first prominent female tech blogger in Nigeria. Misstechy.com is a female-focused blog that provides up-to-date reviews on tech product. The blog also has sections for “How Tos” (a newly launched section on all technology matters) and “women who rule” (a section that promotes African women who are accomplishing the extraordinary with technology).

Techloy

Techloy.com was founded by Loy Okezie in 2008. Over the years, the blog has risen to become one of the high profile tech blogs in Nigeria. The blog is known for its neutral views on Africa’s tech market and industry trends. As a result of issues emanating from hosting, payment and security threats, the blog was moved from its original site to medium.com: one of the most standard blogging platforms.

Tech Point

Techpoint.ng started with the goal of telling the story of African startups from a relatable point. Both founders, Adewale Yusuf and Muyiwa Matukulo, founded the blog with the aim of drawing the average Nigerian closer to technology.
