If you are looking to get a new smartphone, you might want to cop any of these two new releases by Blackberry and Tecno.
BlackBerry announced the BlackBerry Key2, its sequel to last year’s Key One. It’s a mid-range smartphone with the company’s iconic Qwerty keyboard. Fans of physical keypads will love the device. The device also has slimmer bezels, wider keys and a dual camera setup.
The Key2 has a 4.5-inch LCD screen with a 3:2 aspect ratio. Dual 12-megapixel cameras sit at the back with support for portrait mode images. The front 8-megapixel camera has slow-motion and panorama modes and records 1080p video at 30 fps.
It comes with Android Oreo out of the box and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660, 6GB of RAM and storage options of 64GB and 128GB. 3,500mAh of battery keeps everything up and running.
The spacebar on the Key 2 doubles as a camera shutter key and as a fingerprint sensor. The Key2 also lets you use the entire keyboard as a touchpad, mainly for scrolling webpages.
On the other hand, the Tecno Spark 2 was launched last week in Lagos. It 2 features a 6-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with 1440 x 720 presolution. Its powered by a 1.3 GHz Quadcore MediaTek MT6580 chip set. Tecno Spark 2 comes in two different versions; 16GB ROM and 2GB RAM version and the one with 1GB RAM and 16GB ROM. They both have expandable storage up to 32GB via microSD card.
The new Spark 2 has a 13-mega pixel primary camera with a single LED flash and an 8-mega pixel selfie snapper that also comes with an LED flash. The front camera also powers the new Face ID unlock feature for the device.
Android 8.1 Oreo is pre-installed on the Tecno Spark 2 with the HiOS v3.3.0. The device carries a non-removable 3500 mAh battery. The device doesn’t support USB quick charge and 4G network option is also absent.
You can get the 1GB RAM variant of the Tecno Spark 2 for ₦36,200 (100 USD), while the 2GB RAM version will be available for ₦38,000 (105 USD).
The BlackBerry Key2 starts at $649 for the basic storage option and starts shipping globally this month.
