Business Events of the Month: JUNE 2018

This month’s top business events represent a diverse set of industries and interests. There’s digital technology, payments, real estate and retail. And there’s even a conference for events organizers – a reminder that there’s been enough draw power with conferences and exhibitions to have spurred the growth of an actual events industry.

Here’s a rundown of June’s biggest trade shows.

Digital Pay Expo

The talking points at this two day event will revolve around expanding access to digital payments services. The event’s organizers are hoping to run with an agenda that covers the progress that’s been made in the fintech space thus far. But they also say that discusions at the expo will focus on how to bring larger segments of the population into what is a fast evolving financial system.

The event will feature an exhibition, a competition for startups (the M-cash startup challenge), a ‘data fiesta’, and an awards ceremony (the Pay Expo Awards 2018).

The Atinuda Conference

A middle-of-the-year stock taking and course charting exercise for events planners and facilitators is certainly in order. The Atinuda Conference gives players in the events industry the chance to do this within an industry wide context. If you’re involved in the events business, you might find the insights and networks available at this conference very useful.

Past speakers at the event have come from across the world; this year’s event will be no different. The conference’s theme, The Impact of the Events Industry In Africa, lays bare its international scope as well.

Digital Africa

This event is themed ‘Africa’s tech rennaisance’. Its organizers are presenting it as a showcase of the continent’s home-made advances in digital technology. They also seem to be building it up into something of a peek into the future; panelists at the discussion sessions could be shedding some light on the coming Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence, and how these developments could affect the way businesses collect and utilize consumer data.

The Retail Leaders Conference

This trade event for retail businesses has an ominous theme: The Future of Retail 2.0: Innovate or Perish! It’s a rather troubling warning for a conference to run with, but retailers will certainly get the point. The world is changing fast, and they need to keep up with the changes if they’re going to survive. Retail entrepreneurs and CEOs will be heading to this event expecting to get good tips for making this happen.
