Shina Peters Marks His 60th Birthday:

Last week, legendary Afro Juju musician, Sir Shina Peters, celebrated his birthday in grand style. To mark his 60th birthday, the Veteran musician, threw a lavish Party at Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos on Wednesday 30th of May 2018. The event had Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Florence Ita-Giwa, AY Makun, and other notable celebrities in attendance. The singer also mounted the stage to entertain the crowd with serenade after serenade of his classics. See photos and a video of the event below:

 

 

 

Federal Government Extends Maternity Leave To 4 Months:

The Federal Government of Nigeria has raised the period of maternity leave from three to four months. The Minister For Labour and Employment made this disclosure at the ongoing International Labour Conference, in Geneva, Switzerland. The minister also made it known to delegates that employers have been prohibited from sacking women from work either due to marital or maternity status.

 

 

FG Gifts Super Eagles Coach, Bonfrere Jo, A House As Promised:

After 22 years, the Federal Government finally fulfilled its promise to former Super Eagles Coach, Bonfrere Jo, handing him the keys to a three-bedroom apartment in Gwagwalada, Abuja. After guiding the national U23 team to win the men’s football event at the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996, the Dutch coach was promised a house as a reward for his efforts. Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, who handed the keys to Bonfrere during a brief ceremony in Abuja, said the gesture would inspire the Eagles at the 2018 World Cup competition in Russia. He apologized on behalf of the presidency to Bonfrere for the delay in fulfilling the promise and thanked him for his contribution to the development of Nigeria. The Minister also thanked the FG for using this gesture to encourage hard work in the sportsmen and women of the country.

The 71-year-old thanked the Flg and stated that the gesture would encourage sportsmen and women to work hard, knowing that their achievements would not go unrecognised.

President Buhari Declares June 12 The New Democracy Day In Honour Of Late Mko Abiola:

President Muhammadu Buhari declared on Wednesday that Nigeria’s Democracy Day which is currently currently held on May 29 will now be held on June 12 of every Year. This is in honour of the winner of the anulled June 12, 1993, Presidential election, Chief Moshood Abiola. The Presidential also resolved to honour the late Presidential aspirant with the honest national honour, the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic.
The President also stated he would bestow upon his running mate, Alhaji Babagana Kingibe, and the late human rights activist, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, the second highest National honour, the Grand Commander of the Niger.

President Buhari Breaks Fast With Youths And Some Celebrities:

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday hosted some youths and artists to an Iftar dinner. The dinner was served to break the Ramadan fast of which the President and most of the guest invited partook in. Tania Omotayo, Small Doctor, Tobi Bakre, and Sound Sultan were some of the guests in attendance.
