With preparations for the Asaba 2018 African Senior Athletics Championships (ASAC) all but completed, Nigeria is set to host the rest of Africa in grand style for an electrifying top-of-the-line Track and Field competition.
Head of Technical for the 2018 ASAC, Yussuf Alli, via a statement issued by Olukayode Thomas, Head Media, and Publicity for Asaba 2018, is upbeat about showing-off to the World what Nigeria has put on ground for the competition.
“Yes, we are fully ready to host Africa now, after the recent test event (African Tour) that was held to test run our facilities, we have corrected the few lapses we saw and now we are good to go. I am happy that the participating countries are taking this championship serious and with the facilities we have put in place, one can only expect the best of athletics from 1st to 5th August.”
As the date for Africa’s biggest biennial athletics championship draws near, more big-guns have identified with the competition, as two former Directors General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Dr. Patrick Ekeji and Otunba Gbenga Elegbeleye, have both signed up to be volunteers.
Asaba 2018 LOC chairman, Solomon Ogba, in another statement released by the Head Media, and Publicity, thanked the sports administrators for pledging their support for this year’s edition of the games which will see Nigeria host her biggest athletics championships yet.
“More eminent Nigerians are coming on board and we thank these well-respected sports administrators for identifying with us as we get ready to host Africa in style”
