Nigerian Songs That Define Our Memories Of The 80’s
Nigerian music has evolved, from being predominantly influenced by the then popular reggae culture to the now popular Afro beat, hip-hop, soul and RnB influenced songs, the likes of which you here everyday in the country. The music videos have also improved from the very poor visuals (well, we didn’t know any better). So much that they can compare favorably with the best anywhere in the world.
80s, 90s
Most people have, however, argued that music from the 80s and 90s were as instructive as they were entertaining, while many more recent songs and meaningless and merely entertaining. Well, which ever side of the argument you are on, you will agree that they bring back very fond memories.
While we also enjoyed the likes of the New Edition, Cool and The Gang, Billy Ocean, Bonney M, James Brown, and Micheal Jackson, here are some of the Nigerian hit songs that defined the era. Unfortunately were unable to find the original videos for some of the songs.
