Song of the Week: ‘Starlight’ – Cobhams Asuquo

Starlight is a brand new song by our favourite music producer Cobhams Asuquo, released barely twenty-four hours ago.

It is the latest in a series of hit singles from the award-winning producer who held the AMVCA audience spellbound with his performance only a few weeks ago.

Here is what the legendary music producer says about the song:

“This song is for that Starlight in your life. Starlight is light reflected from the stars that illuminate your way. It never goes out, it’s there, day and night (the Sun is also a star). This song speaks to that. It’s my love letter, my ‘thank you’ for always being there.

“To the one who stayed when things were rough, to the one who encouraged when I was glum, to the one who noticed when I was off and to the one who caused me to hum (just so you know, stars hum). To the Starlights in our lives.”

— Cobhams

Cobham’s songs are always lyrically rich, and this is another one.

Enjoy:

Starlight (Lyrics)
I fit fight for you
I’ll give my life for you
No valley too low
No mountain too high
For me to climb for you

Na you dey help me see
The very best in me
And na you dey when nobody dey there
Na you invest in me

And i will walk a thousand miles
If only you will hold my hand
I will go the distance
All the way for you
You know i can

Chorus
People dey ask me say
Wetin dey make me smile
I tell the whole world say
Na you be my life
And if them argue say
We no go last reach night
I tell the people say
You no fit kill starlight

Them say my eye go clear
Them say your eye go tear
Darling no mind them
Make you no send them
Them no be God my dear

And i will walk a thousand miles
If only you will hold my hand
I will go the distance
All the way for you
You know i can

Chorus
People dey ask me say
Wetindey make me smile
I tell the whole world say
Na you be my life
And if them argue say
We no go last reach night
I tell the people say
You no fit kill

Starlight dey shine from night reach morning
E no dey tire
E no dey die
And even when it disappear
Still ,they have a shot somewhere
All the time

Chorus (x3)
