Xiaomi Pocophone f1 froze the internet for what seemed like a month. It got Youtubers, tech enthusiasts and possibly even other OEMs talking about it. Now, that level of influence is usually seen with Apple and Samsung and the Google Pixel phones. But Xiaomi pulled a big one on everybody when they launched their Pocophone f1 with really good specs and at a ridiculously low price. Even the original flagship killer– OnePlus, got killed by the Pocophone. Additionally, it seems Xiaomi will keep up this feat with future Pocophones.
So, what are the specs?
The Pocophone has a sturdy build and a plastic back cover. The front of the phone holds its 6.18-inch 1080p IPS LCD screen with the characteristic notch of 2018 phones. The notch, which looks like an iPhone X cutout, holds the infrared illuminator, selfie camera, earpiece/speaker and other sensors. The device comes with the 3.5mm audio jack, infrared blaster, and USB Type-C.
Inside, the Pocophone is powered by a Snapdragon 845 chipset with Liquid Cool, 6GB to 8GB of RAM, and 64GB/128GB/256GB of internal storage plus expansion. It’s got a whole 4,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0.
Coming to everyone’s favourite feature- the camera, the Pocophone F1 comes with a dual rear camera – a 12MP sensor and a 5MP camera for depth sensing. The selfie camera is a 20MP unit capable of shooting HDR. The smartphone comes with electronic image stabilization (EIS) but doesn’t have OIS. You can even step up the camera output by getting the Google camera mode to enjoy some of Google’s HDR+ gorgeousness. The device ships with Android 8.1 Oreo with its own POCO UI on board.
With all of its stellar specs, the device retails for just $300. Aside from a few trade-offs, the $300 price tag is a great deal for the Pocophone. You get a very speedy performance, a nice camera, full HD display, and a big battery.
