Emeka Okereke Conferred France’s Knight Of The Order Of Arts And Letters

Another admirable Nigerian, Emeka Okereke, has been added to the long list of esteemed Nigerians who do our great nation proud everyday.

Okereke, a Nigerian photographer, filmmaker, writer, and visual artist, was on 27th of October 2018 conferred France’s respected insignia of Chevalier De l’Ordre Des Arts et Des Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters) by the Ministry of Culture of France.

The award ceremony, officiated by the Ambassador of France to Nigeria, Mr. Jérôme Pasquier, took place at the new Alliance Francaise in Lagos.

Okereke, is one of the youngest Nigerians and Africans to be conferred with this honor, in recognition of his contributions to the treatise on art in Africa, France and the rest of the world.

The Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Order of Arts and Letters), is an Order of France, established on the 2nd of May 1957, by the Minister of Culture, for the purpose of identifying and recognizing significant contributions to the fields of arts and literature.

In his acceptance speech, Okereke, acknowledged the support of Nigeria’s creative maestros in photography, like Uche James Iroha, Kelechi Amadi Obi, TY Bello, Amaize Ojeikere, Zaynab Odunsi, and a host of others, for their tutelage and support, before he moved on to the Fine Art School of Paris.
