The Nigerian Starboy, singer and CEO of Starboy Entertainment Ayo Balogun, also known as Wizkid, has been honored by Governor Mark Dayton of Minnesota in the United States of America.
Dayton, declared the 6th of October henceforth as Minnesota’s Wizkid Day in honor of the Nigerian afropop icon.
Among his many achievements inspiring the recognition are; being the first African artiste to sell out Skyway Theatre, and being the very first African artist to walk the runway at a Dolce and Gabbana fashion show in Milan, Italy, strutting to the rhythm of his own hit song “Soco” playing in the background. He walked the runway alongside Supermodel Naomi Campbell and UK-based musician, Tinie Tempah.
He wrote and produced the monster hit “One dance” with American rapper Drake, earning him a place in the 2018 Guinness World Records. The song went on to top several charts all over the world.
Wizkid has a music career that has spanned about 18 years. His big break only came after signing on to Banky W‘s Empire Mates Entertainment and releasing his debut album with the hit song”Holla At Your Boy” in 2010.
The singer is on a tour of America following the release of his first two singles for the year “Fever” and “Master Groove”. The singles are coming after several collaborations with other atristes earlier in the year.
