Booklify was founded by Nataniel Okwoli to resuscitate the reading culture in Nigeria, and create an online community of readers, accessing different categories of books and exchanging ideas. Nathaniel believes the reading culture in Nigeria is still very much alive but needs technological intervention to soar, and that is where Booklify.ng comes in.
The Beauty Of Referrals
Early in his entrepreneurship journey, Nathaniel saw the beauty of friendship and it was on this basis he founded Booklify. His first business attempt was when he worked with a couple of friends in University to sell e-books to students and sell Post UTME past questions online. He was inspired to develop the platform after he found it difficult locating a good book to read and eventually through a meeting with a friend, settled for “Zero to One” by Peter Theil. This meeting served as an epiphany for him about the importance of referrals from friends and how they influence decisions (choosing a book in his case). As a result, he set out to create Booklify, an online bookstore where a community of like-minded individuals can read good books and recommend the books they’ve read to others.
What Booklify Offers
Being an online bookstore, users on the platform can gain access to different categories of books and engage in active conversations about them. Booklify also has a policy for book publishers to promote their books on the website and track sales on its dashboard. In essence, authors and readers have a lot to gain from this platform.
Achievements and Goals
In 2016, Booklify got accepted into the Tony Elumelu Programme. According to the founder, this experience gave him a better understanding of his target market and provided him with his first seed capital. Booklify currently caters to a total of 1000 users and its revenue is generated through commissions from online book sales. Nathaniel hopes to spread Booklify’s services to other countries in the nearest future and adopt new technologies like artificial intelligence to improve user experience.
