D’Tigers shooting guard, Obi Emegano, has linked up with French side, Le Mans Sarthe Basket, in a report by Sports Extra.
The 26-year-old big man was on target for JDA Dijon Bourgogne in the Jeep Elite Pro-A last season, where he was quite instrumental in his team’s league campaign.
The Nigerian played 14 games in Basketball Champions League where he recorded 8.3ppg, 3.1rpg, and 1.1spg.
Emegano helped Nigeria seal the qualification for the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China and has been named in Alex Nwora’s 44-man provisional list ahead of the competition. In 39 games, Emegano had 8.1ppg and 2.3rpg.
Meanwhile, another top French side has snatched a Nigerian basketballer in their latest bid. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket have signed a deal for 24-year-old Nigeria center, Tonye Jekiri.
Jekiri’s most recent feature was at Gaziantep Basketbol in the Turkish BSL league. In 31 games the young Nigerian recorded 12.8ppg, 10.2rpg (#2 in the league) and 2.2apg last season. He was also once selected as the League Player of the Week.
Jekiri featured for D’Tigers in their qualifying series ahead of the FIBA World Cup in China.
Although he did not get a call to represent Nigeria at the world cup, Jekiri’s current form and improvement scale could earn him a call in the future.
