Nigeria has become the first country after Angola to win back-to-back FIBA Women’s AfroBasket titles after the East African nation backed their 2011 triumph with another victory in 2013.

On the road to the final, Nigeria beat Mali 79-58 in the first semifinal match on Friday, August 16, 2019. It will be recalled that Senegal lost twice to Nigeria during the 2017 edition of the tournament in Mali. Both sides are the most dominant in African women basketball, which was evident during the 12-team tourney.

All attention is now focused on the Nigeria men basketball national team, D Tigers, as they prepare for their participation at the FIBA World Cup slated to hold in China from Saturday August 31, 2019-Sunday September 15, 2019.
