In 2014, two enterprising young men, Chinedu Azodoh and Adetayo Bamiduro, founded Metro Africa Express (MAX) initially to cater to logistic demands in Nigeria.
They both gained the required experience before setting out on the path to provide efficient on-demand delivery services in Nigeria. Chinedu Azodoh is an alumnus of Illinois Institute of Technology and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Prior to co-founding MAX, he had worked at Barclay’s and Goldman Sachs.
Adetayo Bamiduro, on the other hand, studied at MIT and worked at NLNG and Konga before launching MAX.
They started MAX, focusing chiefly on delivery services that ensure customers receive their ordered packages in time. By 2017, they had gained enough insights into how a service like MAX would thrive in the maze-like city of Lagos. This led to the rebranding of MAX from just a delivery service to also a transportation service.
Following the ban of Okadas on major highways in Lagos by erstwhile Governor Fashola, MAX extended its services to combat the menace of traffic congestion. It has succeeded in making this new service available to the average Nigerian by launching MAX GO, a mobile app that allows commuters in Lagos get around traffic using optimal motorcycle transportation.
Ensuring Safety By Using Cutting-Edge Technology
In the past, the predominant means of bike transportation in Lagos were 100cc bikes, popularly known as Okadas, that were prone to road accidents and mishaps.
This led to the government regulations that halted the movement of Okadas across major highways in Lagos
The founders of Max.NG are well informed of this fact and keep their services professional by using more advanced bikes within the range of 200cc (and above). Due to their standard makeup, these bikes guarantee safety and mitigate the accidents that come with the aforementioned 100cc bikes.
Achievements and Milestones
MAX boasts over 3000 orders a day within Lagos and has employed over 300 drivers. The service caters to urban cities in Lagos such as Yaba, Marina, Ikoyi and Lekki Phase 1 axes.
MAX is also tackling unemployment in Nigeria through its training and certification schemes. It works to provide trained individuals with motorcycles by partnering with Motorcycle companies like Bajaj.
