Restaurant Review: Ofiaku Restaurant, Awka

I haven’t been to Awka in a while but when the need to do a review of a restaurant there arose, I remembered the Igbo proverb, “When an animal is itchy, it goes to the tree for help but when a man is itchy, he seeks the assistance of his fellow man in scratching the itch.” In line with that proverb, I turned to my cousin, Adaobi for help. Before I start the review proper, I want to say thanks, Ada for all that you do for me.

Ofiaku Restaurant is a Nigerian restaurant located in Awka, the capital of Anambra State. It is one of the top five restaurants in the city. It specializes in the provision of authentic South-Eastern Nigerian dishes to customers. The name, Ofiaku probably derives from their Monday specialty, white rice and ofe akwu.

This restaurant which started at No. 11 Ziks Avenue, Awka has expanded to another site in Aroma Junction. The success of Ofiaku Restaurant lies in its determined efforts to provide a memorable dining experience to customers.

Service at the Ziks Avenue branch of the restaurant is great. The food is fresh, awesome and reasonably affordable. The portions are moderate too. This branch of the restaurant also has a car wash attached to it. This arrangement is perfect for business; clients who visit the car wash can come into the restaurant to eat and relax.

Ofiaku Restaurant, Ziks Avenue branch has three sections, the VIP section, the main restaurant and the outdoor section. While the other sections can be busy and noisy, the VIP section is conducive for business meetings. The parking lot is large enough to accommodate customers’ vehicles. The convenience is clean. In the evenings, a DJ entertains customers with music.
