Taking after the likes of Nigeria’s Mo Abudu and Oprah Winfrey, Bola Olakunni has carved a niche for herself as a TV presenter and fashion savvy individual. She first made her grand entrance into the entertainment industry on the MTN Project Fame Show and Moments With Mo.
With a passion for media and a desire to be a catalyst for change in Nigeria, Bolanle Olakunni is making giant strides in her endeavours.
Bolanle Olakunni was raised in Nigeria, Kenya, and Israel by her diplomat father. She started fancying the media while living in Kenya and admiring the radio presenters she came across. At that point, Bolanle realised the impact the media could have on society. She went on to bag a double degree of BA Communications and BA International Studies from Loyola University. After graduating from the university, she returned to Nigeria to do her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) where her passion for media and entertainment rekindled. This led her to audition for TV and presenting roles until she landed her first TV gig as a co-host on “Moments with Mo” after being chosen out of over 400 prospects. Today, Bolanle is best known for “Moments with Mo”. She has interviewed President Muhammdu Buhari, Oscar-nominated actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, Grammy award-winning singer Brandy, Minister of Power and Works Babatunde Raji Fashola.
Bolanle’s efforts to impact society go beyond the four walls of media houses. She is currently on the Board of Directors of The Self-Worth organization, an NGO focused on empowering widows and single mothers. The platform trains women in makeup courses, tailoring and catering. Upon completion of their courses, the women get funding and tools necessary to run their respective startups.
