Super Falcons of Nigeria captain Asisat Oshoala kicked off the new year on a bright note after bagging a brace for her Spanish club, FC Barcelona Femini, on Sunday, January 5, 2019. Oshoala who started the game from the bench stole the show after scoring in the 77th and 86th minutes of the game held at the San Mames Barria against Athletic Club. A brilliant cross from Hamraoui saw the former Liverpool and Arsenal forward nod home a fine header to double the advantage for Barcelona in the 77th minute before capitalizing on a rebound to make it three four minutes later.

The game which ended 3-0 meant Barcelona maintained their unbeaten run this season and also remain top of the league table. Sunday’s goals meant the Super Falcons captain became the first Barcelona player (both in the male and female football category) to score a brace in this new year ahead of FIFA World Footballer of the Year, Lionel Messi, and a host of other stars. Oshoala has equally hit double digit in league goals for Barcelona, a feat the Africa Womens’ Footballer of the Year Award nominee did not achieve in her previous clubs.
