Ex-Nigerian international and former coach of the Nigerian national U-17 team, Emmanuel Amuneke has tipped Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, to raise his game and surpass Ivorian and Chelsea FC legend, Didier Drogba. He is 21 and is constantly compared with the two-time African Footballer of the Year and Amuneke has weighed in on the discussion, opining that his boy at the U-17 level still has a long way to go in football but should surpass the retired Ivorian. It will be recalled that under the tutelage of Amuneke he finished the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile as the highest goal scorer, a tournament Nigeria won and set the record as the country with the most FIFA U-17 World Cup trophies (five times).

“Victor is still young, he has still a long road to reach Didier’s level. But, in my opinion, one day he could become even better than him. Maybe, by playing in the Serie A. To change championship and country again, after Germany, Belgium and France, will let him experience a new reality and to improve as a man and player.”

“It’s clear Napoli is one of the most important clubs in Italy, with a great history and passionate fans like few others. In my opinion, Osimhen has everything to become an idol to Napoli fans in the next years, he will only need some time to settle down.”
His impressive outing in the French Ligue1 2019/2020 season saw him score 13 times in 27 league matches, a feat that made him the best African player in France and attracted interest from top European sides like Tottenham and Liverpool.
