African Development Bank: AgriPitch Competition


The African Development Bank has launched this year’s iteration of its yearly Youth Agripreneur Agri-Pitch Competition and DealRoom. The aim of the initiative is to encourage young agripreneurs who are looking to scale their businesses. The idea is to foster food security across regions on the continent hence solve an existential problem in Africa.

According to,

“The goal of the AgriPitch Competition and DealRoom is to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in agriculture among youth in Africa and to generate jobs, create wealth and improve livelihoods through inclusive growth across the continent.”

The competition is open to all agri-businesses from the AfDB’s 81 members within Africa. Companies who fit the criteria are encouraged to submit their deal applications to the AfDB and Asoko Insights data team. Qualified applications are passed on through Asoko portal to global investors who select their preferred profile and matching it and registering their profile as well as selecting target deals.

The AfDB Agri-Pitch Competition proper will be held from the 16th to 20th of November 2020. Pitches will be selected across different categories and the AfDb will be awarding those selected between $10,000 and $40,000 in the way of grant capital. A total of $120,000 has been earmarked as grants to successful companies.

  3. Click on “Submit Interest”. Then fill the register with requested information.

Be advised that you will be better served to have been a business that is already running with financial statements, equity and assets as this is not an opportunity for those with mere ideas and a business plan.
