Rohr Invites 25-Man For Ivory Coast And Tunisia Friendlies

 

Chief Coach of the Nigerian national team, Gernot Rohr, has released a 25-man list for the team’s upcoming friendlies against Ivory Coast and Tunisia in Austria come October 2020. The list comprises of three goalkeepers, eight defenders, five midfielders, and nine forwards as Gernot Rohr looks to bolster his squad ahead of their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup qualifiers. Also, the German tactician handed an invitation to seven uncapped players as Mathew Yakubu, Frank Onyeka, Zaidu Sanusi, Chidera Ejuke, Cyriel Dessers, Dele Alampasu, and Samson Tijani made the cut.

The French Ligue 1 duo of Josh Maja and Henry Onyekuru, Abdullahi Shehu of AC Omonia, Ramon Azeez (Granada), and Tyrone Ebuehi (on-loan at FC Twente from Benfica) were put on the standby list as competition for places in the team gets tougher. Leon Balogun who joined Rangers of Scotland in the ongoing transfer window, Leicester City’s duo of Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanancho, recent Fulham recruit, Ola Aina, and Alex Iwobi of Everton made the 25-man list.

The three-time African champions will confront the Elephants of Ivory Coast on October 9, 2020, before filing out against the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia on October 13, 2020. Both matches will be held in Austria.
