2022 AFCON Qualifiers: Eagles Ready To Feast On Leone Stars


All is set for Nigeria’s 2022 AFCON qualifiers match against the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City. The game which is scheduled to hold today, November 13, by 5 pm (WAT) will see the Super Eagles aim for all three points to set them on course for early qualification and afford the team the opportunity to fully focus on the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers which will commence next year.

All players and staff of the national team are fully in shape after their COVID-19 tests all returned negative, further boosting the team’s confidence to feast on their fellow West Africans. Reacting to the returned negative COVID-19 tests, captain Ahmed Musa described it as ‘’great news.’’

‘This is great news. Now, let us go out there on Friday and get the three points.’

In a similar vein, coach Gernot Rohr noted that the team is fully committed to maintaining their tradition of qualifying early for tournaments. The German tactician noted that the team’s determination is key to their chances of booking the ticket to Cameroun early.

‘We will not underrate this team, our tradition is to be qualified with games to spare, we want to continue in this tradition. We desire to win our games and since the beginning, we were in this direction, we are sometimes lucky to win our first games but I think the determination of the staff, of the team, is giving us this opportunity to be ready.’
