Nigeria’s pharmaceutical industry is populated by several large players and smaller companies. Each brand has a unique history. Some arose decades ago, to address a lack of indigenous drug manufacturers in the country. Others came on the scene relatively recently, and have been making their mark on an increasingly competitive local market for pharmaceutical products.

Drugfield Pharmaceuticals falls into the former category. It’s been around for a while and has built a reputation for itself as a major pharmaceutical products maker. Their output includes a wide range of medicines: antivirals, analgesics, antibiotics, expectorants, antimalarial, and anti-inflammatory drugs, among others.
The company was founded in 1991, a time in which the local pharmaceutical industry was almost totally dominated by foreign products. Through the years, it has steadily expanded its offerings and production capacity and gained the trust of a large segment of the public. Its success has paved the way for other pharmaceutical companies to venture into the industry.
Drugfield boasts a well-equipped manufacturing facility located at Sango-Ota, Ogun State. This means that it’s within reach of major cities in neighbouring states, including Lagos.

Drugfield manufactures a number of anti-inflammatory products, include Betamethasone Cream, Betadrone Eye and Ear Drops, Diclofenac Eyedrop and Gel, and Drucedrin Capsules. It also makes antibiotics; Biocine Capsules, Ciflaxin Caplets, and eye drops, Chloramphenicol Eye Drops, Coptrine Paediatric Suspension, and Compi-Clox Dry Syrup are examples.
Also included in Drugfield’s product line are the analgesics Drugamol and NeuroGesic; Drujela, an antiseptic mouth gel; Kuinopril, an anti-hypertensive drug; Metafizin, an anti-malarial drug; Mycoten, an anti-fungal cream; and Neo-presol, an anti-acne lotion. These are just a selection of the several dozen medicines that Drugfield makes.
From its production centre in Ogun State, the company has its products transported to its distributors nationwide. These distributors are in locations such as Lagos, Onitsha, Ilorin, Aba, Gusau, and Nnewi.
Besides its commercial concerns, Drugfield is regularly involved in corporate social responsibility projects. It donates free medicines to schools, communities, and governments, and supports a foundation that offers scholarships to orphans in secondary schools and tertiary institutions.
