Nigeria’s male national basketball team, D’Tigers, are geared up for their first game against South Sudan in the last phase of the 2021 Afrobasket qualifiers. Today, February 17, 2021, the Nigerian side will take on the North Africans at the Salle Mohamed Mzali arena in Monastir, Tunisia by 5 pm WAT (West African Time).

The qualifiers for the tournament billed to hold in Rwanda later this year will see 20 teams divided into five groups comprising of four teams each jostle for slots in the biggest basketball event in Africa. Having recorded vital wins against South Sudan, Mali, and Rwanda in the previous phase of qualifiers, the Nigerians are aiming to continue their brilliant run.
Stand-in coach, Mfon Udofia, who has been with the team since the FIBA World Cup in 2019, noted that D’Tigers do not just aim to qualify, but want to qualify in great fashion and stay in shape ahead of the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo.
