Nigerian international, Kelechi Iheanacho, has been hailed by his Leicester City manager, Brendan Rodgers, for finding the back of the net in the English Premier League (EPL) after a 14-game goalless run. Iheanacho ended his goal drought in the EPL on Wednesday night, February 3, 2021, after gifting Leicester City the lead in a 2-0 away win over Fulham at the Craven Cottage. A delivery from James Maddison saw the Nigerian striker score a powerful header in the 17th minute of the match to record his first goal since July 4, 2020, when he scored against Crystal Palace.

Reacting to Iheanacho’s goal, Rodgers expressed his delight for the former Manchester City star.
‘We scored two goals of great quality. The first one we won the ball back and it’s a brilliant cross. We’re delighted for Kels. The second was a different type, with good possession, played quickly, and then there’s the left-back getting up there to support with good energy.’
Commenting on his exploits on Wednesday night, Iheanacho revealed that he alongside his teammates were happy to be back to winning ways after suffering a 3-1 home loss to Leeds United on Sunday, January 31. He went further to charge his teammates to build on the momentum.

‘We are delighted. It’s a clean sheet and we are really happy we’re back to winning ways. We need to get going now and focus on the next games. Looking to build momentum after Fulham triumph. We’re really happy. It’s not an easy ground, coming here. They’re really good at their home, so we needed to stay together, stay compact, and we got the win. In the second half, we had to get tight and defend until the last minute.’
Leicester sits third in the EPL log with 42 points ahead of champions Liverpool who sit fourth with 40 points.
