We have seen several health-tech startups emerge in recent years tackle the menace of poor health care. With some solving logistical problems facing hospitals and others making medical care easily accessible to the average Nigerian, we can only hope that the Nigerian health industry will be a benchmark for external criteria in the nearest future. One of these health-care startups is the award-winning Find-A-Med application launched by Nigeria’s JumpSpace Communications in 2014.
Find-A-Med is a reliable directory for users to find the nearest health facilities around them; with over 5000 registered medical centres, Find-A-Med gives users access to a host of hospitals, caregivers, pharmacies, doctors, laboratories, and other medical facilities and services.
Meet The App
Signing up on the Find-A-Med app requires you to answer a few questions about your health. Once you are done signing up, you will be led to a homepage with a simple interface. To the left corner of the homepage lies a drop-down menu comprising of several healthcare categories to choose from depending on your health challenge (Public Health, Hospital/Clinic, Pharmacy, Dental Care, Animal Care, and some others). There is also a search icon to click on just in case none of the options match what you are looking for.
“Though a large number of medical centers of varying quality exist in every part of Nigeria, there is no accessible, searchable database. Find-A-Med was created to solve this challenge.”
— Emea Onyenwe (co-founder, JumpSpace Communications)
Through the catalogue of review medical centres on the app, users are able to make informed decisions when choosing a medical platform.
