In line with meeting the demands of Nigerian protesters, especially the youth population, the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development is organising a Youth Virtual Town Hall Meeting with the theme ‘’ProtectOurYouth#EndPoliceBrutality.’’ The online meeting is aimed at creating a new model towards reforms and the expectations of Nigerians, defining the country’s path to justice, compensation for victims of police brutality, as well as establishing a Police youth relationship.
The meeting which is set to hold today, October 16th, 2020, by 3 pm, will be moderated by Dr Joe Abah, while the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, popular Nigerian musician, Folarin Falana (popular as Falz), who has been at the fore of the protests in Lagos State, Segun Awosanya (Segalink), and Ife Durosinmi (Etti), will form the panellists.
Nigerian #EndSARS protesters have refused to end the peaceful demonstrations despite the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) by the IGP on Sunday, October 11th, 2020, and the introduction of the Special Weapon and Tactics (SWAT) team as a replacement for SARS. Despite the government’s promises to meet the demands of the protesters, they have refused to back down, citing the need for action before they will return home.
