Chukwuemeka made his senior debut for Dean Smith’s men as an 88th-minute substitute for Marvelous Nakamba, in a thrilling 2-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night, May 19, 2021.
An eight-minute strike from Steven Bergwijn had gifted Tottenham the lead, but an own goal from Sergio Reguilon and an Ollie Watkins strike were enough to see off the Ryan Mason led Spurs.
Chukwuemeka is just 17 and is a future prospect for Aston Villa and the Nigerian national team, though he is also eligible to play for England, his country of birth. Reacting to his senior debut, Chukwuemeka described it as the ‘’proudest moment,’’ of his football career.

‘It felt amazing… It’s every young footballer’s dream to make their Premier League debut and for me to do it was just a dream come true. It’s the proudest moment of my career so far.’
The young star almost scored on his debut, but his low strike from the edge of the 18-yard-box rebounded off the foot of Tottenham’s post.
‘As soon as the opportunity fell to me, I just thought ‘let me hit it and try my luck. Unluckily it hit the post, so next time maybe…’
Villa currently occupies the 11th position on the English Premier League log with 52 points from 37 games. On Sunday, May 23, Villa will play their last league game against Chelsea to end the 2020/2021 season. However, Chukwuemeka will be aiming to win the English Youth FA Cup final against Liverpool on Monday, May 24, 2021.
